At Woolwich Arsenal Residents Association (WARA), we value the privacy of our members and are committed to protecting their personal data in accordance with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018.

  • You are not an employee of, and are not affiliated with, Rendall and Rittner or Berkeley Homes

You can update your profile at any time by clicking ‘Update your preferences’ in the footer of any email you receive from us.

You can unsubscribe from WARA membership at any time by clicking the ‘unsubscribe’ link in the footer of any email you receive from us.


Information We Collect

We may collect and maintain the following personal information from members:

  • Name and address within the Association area
  • Email address and/or phone number
  • Membership status and participation in Association activities
  • Photographs, testimonials, or quotes (with consent)
  • Any other information voluntarily provided for Association purposes

WARA does not intentionally collect special category data (such as health information or information about beliefs, and ask members not to share such details.


Lawful Basis for Processing

Under the UK GDPR, the Association processes personal data on the following lawful bases:

  • Consent – when members give explicit permission for their details, photographs, or testimonials to be used for publicity or recognition purposes.
  • Legitimate Interests – where processing is necessary to support the Association’s aims, such as communicating with members, managing activities, or representing community interests.
  • Legal Obligation – where processing is required by law or to comply with statutory responsibilities (e.g., financial or reporting obligations).

How We Use Members’ Information

We use members’ information to:

  • Communicate about meetings, events, and community campaigns
  • Share updates and initiatives that support neighbourhood improvement
  • Publicly recognise the Association’s work and member contributions (e.g., through newsletters, social media, or this website)
  • Represent resident views to the Freeholder, Managing Agents, and Council
  • Maintain accurate membership records and manage Association operations, including the pursuit of legal recognition.

We only use personal data in ways that are compatible with the purposes for which it was originally collected.


Consent and Privacy

We respect our members’ privacy:

  • Personal details will not be sold, traded, or shared with third parties for non-Association purposes.
  • Photographs, quotes, or names used for publicity or recognition (including online or in print) will only be published with the member’s explicit consent.
  • Members can withdraw consent or request changes to their personal information at any time by contacting us at IT@wara.london

If consent is withdrawn, we will stop using that information for the relevant purpose.

We take appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect personal data against loss, misuse, or unauthorised access.

Your personal information is stored securely and only accessible to authorised Association members, officers, or third party providers such as Mailchimp.

  • Right to Erasure – to request deletion of personal information, where appropriate

  • Right to Withdraw Consent – at any time, where processing is based on consent
